Class Syllabus

Kindergarten Subject and Skills  

Language Arts (Reading Readiness, Writing, Phonemic Awareness, and Phonics)

will be taught from the Read Well Program, as well as other supplementary materials. All materials will be combined to provide shared reading, oral language, writing, phonemic awareness, and letters of the alphabet. In the very near future, we will post a copy of the Reading/Language Arts Academic Calendar. It will be an outline of each nine weeks letters and skills that will be taught.


First Nine Weeks:

Write numbers form 0 to 20.

Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20.

Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities

Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things

Greater than, less than, or equal to


Second Nine Weeks:

Count forward beginning from a given number

Compare two numbers between 1 and 10

Addition and subtraction

Solve addition and subtraction word problems

Decomposing numbers less/ equal to 10

Showing ways to make 10


Third Nine Weeks:

Count to 100 by ones and by tens

Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19

Correctly name shapes

Analyze and compare two and three dimensional shape

Compose simple shapes to form larger shapes

Fourth Nine Weeks:

Describe measurable attributes

Directly compare two objects

Classifying objects

Describe objects by shapes

Identifying shapes

Social Science-will be taught using a scientific based research program and other materials.

First Nine Weeks:

Safety/Manners; Nursery Rhymes/Neighborhood; Community Helpers; The Family; Motion/Magnets; Animals

Second Nine Weeks:

Forest Animals/Seasons; Thanksgiving; Clothing; Shelter; The Sun; Needs vs Wants; Christmas; Solids/Liquids; All about me; Insects; Seeds and Plants; Jungle Animals;

Third Nine Weeks:

Dental Health; Farm/Farm animals; Dr. Suess; Maps/Globes; Five Senses; Cultural Heritages/Patriotism; Transportation; Positional words; Weather; Goods and Service

Fourth Nine Weeks:

Positive Traits; Families (Past and Present); Making Choices/Consequences; Our Country; School Helpers; Community Helpers
